Description
You’ll learn how to enhance your images, in the style you can see in the examples below the course thumbnail. You’ll also find a few before-and-after examples further down in this description.
This course is aimed at advanced Photoshop users who already have a good knowledge of the software (layers, dynamic objects, blending masks, selections). If you don’t master certain techniques, don’t hesitate to contact me for a preliminary review.
You’ll work on photos taken in the forest during autumn. This is the time when nature offers its magnificent palette of colors. This course will teach you techniques that will enable you to obtain results with a visual “boost” compared to the initial shot. You’ll learn how to create different atmospheres, by playing with light and color, modifying the sky or adding sunlight.
Course content :
- Shooting: technique and tips.
- Sky replacement :
two techniques will be covered:
– If you have a very recent version of Photoshop, the automatic sky replacement tool will be explained.
– You will also learn how to crop the sky in the “classic” way, using separation masks (prepared on an alpha layer). This technique is very effective for selecting small elements. This will be the case here with tree branches and foliage.
- Colors:
Colors are one of the main elements to work on.
You’ll learn how to use the various settings that affect them. Modifications are sometimes global, but more often localized. We will therefore use tools to select areas of the image.
- Atmosphere :
As you’ll have noticed from the images in this course, the overall mood is almost always different from the basic image. You’ll learn how to create different moods, sometimes with global applications on the image, but more often by playing with lights and shadows in a localized way. The creation of rays of light, the dramatization of the sky, or even the creation of mist, all contribute greatly to the overall atmosphere. You’ll learn all the techniques you need to achieve the results you want.
- Filters :
In this course, you’ll learn how to use several filters from the Nik Collection suite (see software section below). Some of them are very easy to use to create the right mood.
Software :
For this course, you will need to have the Nik Collection suite installed on your computer.
If you don’t have it, you can find a trial version, or buy a license on the DxO website.
For Adobe Photoshop, you’ll need to have the latest version installed on your computer if you wish to learn about the new automatic sky replacement tool. If you have an older version, sky replacement using the classic separation mask method will be covered during the course.
Remarks :
- This course consists of a theoretical part and a practical part. I will adapt and alternate these two parts according to the knowledge you have already acquired, and the techniques I will introduce to you.
- For the practical part, you’ll be guided through the image creation process, live during the videoconference, thanks to screen sharing.
- Image files for this course are provided.
Video summary:
This course is accompanied by a video summary.
It is recorded during the course and summarizes the key points. Also, depending on your specific needs, which will be assessed during the course, certain additional points may be added to the video.
The video summary will be sent to you in MP4 format, via WeTransfer, after the course.
